It proposes a coherent set of concrete measures - merit, requirements, honest guidance, support for SMEs, modernisation of content and gradual skills upgrading - to secure apprenticeships and skilled work in Switzerland over the long term. <b>The full strategic note is available for consultation at the following link<\/b>, to inform the debate and future political decisions.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">We often say that apprenticeships are going well.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">This is false - or rather incomplete.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">It doesn't collapse suddenly.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">It is slowly being eroded: loss of prestige, biased guidance, shortage of places in certain professions, discouragement of SMEs, <strong>poor fit between high occupational requirements and insufficiently structured entry into training for 15-18 year olds<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">Result:<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">more disruptions, more years in between, fewer training companies, and shortages that we then pretend to \u00abcorrect\u00bb by importing labour.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">Protecting apprenticeship does not mean freezing it or watering it down.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\"><strong>It means raising standards, clarifying requirements and better structuring entry to training.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">Here is a consumer version of the <strong>Apprenticeship 2030 Pact\u201c<\/strong>, designed to be <strong>demanding, pragmatic and credible<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"article-editor-heading\">1) Restoring prestige: a merit bonus at the end of apprenticeship<\/h3>\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">The academic route naturally rewards performance (status, recognition, scholarships).<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">The vocational route, much less so.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\"><strong>Simple proposal:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"article-editor-bullet-list\">\n<li class=\"article-editor-list-item\">\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">a <strong>merit-based bonus<\/strong> paid on obtaining the <strong>CFC or AFP<\/strong>,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"article-editor-list-item\">\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">jointly funded by the <strong>canton<\/strong>, the <strong>Confederation<\/strong> and the\u2019<strong>company<\/strong>,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"article-editor-list-item\">\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">enhanced bonus for :<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\"><strong>Clear message<\/strong> Successful completion of a demanding apprenticeship is a performance recognised by the community.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"article-editor-heading\">2) Truly neutral and honest guidance (mandatory)<\/h3>\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">Today, too many young people and parents make their choices without full information - either about the prospects, or about the risks, of choosing a career. <strong>real business requirements<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\"><strong>Proposal:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"article-editor-bullet-list\">\n<li class=\"article-editor-list-item\">\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">a <strong>compulsory independent orientation session<\/strong> at the end of school,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"article-editor-list-item\">\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">with real-life testimonials:<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"article-editor-list-item\">\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">and above all :<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">Fewer illusions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">More informed choices.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">Fewer break-ups.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"article-editor-heading\">3) Serious support for SMEs that train<\/h3>\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">Training an apprentice is a <strong>demanding act<\/strong>, This is costly in terms of time and responsibility - especially for an SME.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\"><strong>Concrete measures:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"article-editor-bullet-list\">\n<li class=\"article-editor-list-item\">\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">tax relief or targeted deductions,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"article-editor-list-item\">\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\"><strong>local support, without a one-stop shop or centralised bureaucracy<\/strong>, This is done through branch and regional representatives,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"article-editor-list-item\">\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">equipment grants to create new places.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">Training must become <strong>possible, demanding and secure<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"article-editor-heading\">4) Structuring a demanding and progressive entry point for 15-18 year olds<\/h3>\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">This is the point that is often avoided, but is central.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">Business requirements have increased:<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">digitisation, security, documentation, productivity, customer relations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">The answer is <strong>neither laxity nor lowering of standards<\/strong>, but a <strong>gradual and structured rise in requirements<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\"><strong>Pragmatic solutions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"article-editor-bullet-list\">\n<li class=\"article-editor-list-item\">\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">targeted pre-apprenticeships for highly demanding professions,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"article-editor-list-item\">\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">gradual start to learning, with a supervised ramp-up,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"article-editor-list-item\">\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">enhanced mentoring and short training courses for apprenticeship masters.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\"><strong>Objective<\/strong> demanding more, but <strong>at the right time and in the right place<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"article-editor-heading\">5) Making apprenticeships a visible route to excellence<\/h3>\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">Yes, learning can take you a long way - as long as you take it on.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">To make visible :<\/p>\n<ul class=\"article-editor-bullet-list\">\n<li class=\"article-editor-list-item\">\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">scholarships for excellent career paths,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"article-editor-list-item\">\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">clear gateways to ES and HES,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"article-editor-list-item\">\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">national showcasing of apprenticeship success stories.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">Apprenticeships are not a default option.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\"><strong>It's a path of effort, skill and progression.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"article-editor-heading\">6) Pilot with facts, not slogans<\/h3>\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">Each canton should publish simple and transparent indicators:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"article-editor-bullet-list\">\n<li class=\"article-editor-list-item\">\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">places offered vs. places filled,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"article-editor-list-item\">\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">breach of contract,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"article-editor-list-item\">\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">integration after graduation,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"article-editor-list-item\">\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">transitional solutions.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">Less ideology.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">More political responsibility.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"article-editor-heading\">Conclusion<\/h3>\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">Switzerland must choose:<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">or it actively protects the sector that transforms schools into jobs and economic sovereignty,<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">or it leaves <strong>the prestige of academic careers and institutional inertia<\/strong> Then it tries to make up for it with intermediate years, shortages and longer career paths.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\">The package <strong>prestige<\/strong>, <strong>honest guidance<\/strong>, <strong>support for SMEs<\/strong> and <strong>demanding entry<\/strong> is a response <strong>pragmatic, measurable and immediately defensible<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\"><em>The full strategy paper, intended for federal parliamentarians, is available for consultation below:<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/test.souverainete-suisse.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Pacte_Apprentissage_2030_Note_strategique_Parlement_avec_annexe_2026-01-22.pdf\">Pacte_Apprentissage_2030_Note_strategique_Parlement_avec_annexe_2026-01-22<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"article-editor-paragraph\"><strong>\ud83c\udde8\ud83c\udded Without funding, there can be no resistance.
