Behind the reassuring veneer of rhetoric about \u201csocial justice\u201d, the reality is clear: suffocating taxation, trivialised insecurity, a pressurised middle class and public finances under strain. Against this backdrop, the by-election to the Council of State now pits two irreconcilable visions against each other. Continue as before - or regain control.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1661\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">On 8 March 2026, the canton of Vaud will be choosing more than just a name to complete the Council of State.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1662\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">He will choose a <strong>trajectory<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1663\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">On one side, <strong>Roger Nordmann<\/strong>, The city was the emblematic figure of an urban, centralising and fiscally voracious socialism.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1664\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">On the other, <strong>Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Thuillard<\/strong>, He is a man with his feet firmly on the ground, with a clear vision: security, fiscal responsibility and respect for productive forces.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1665\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">This election is anything but insignificant. Vaud is at a crossroads.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"ember1666\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__heading-3\">Roger Nordmann: the symbol of Lausanne-centric, out-of-touch socialism<\/h3>\n<p id=\"ember1667\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">Roger Nordmann plays a <strong>technocratic and ideological vision<\/strong>, made in Berne and Lausanne, <strong>disconnected from the realities of the outlying, rural and productive canton<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1668\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">His plan is clear:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>prolong the <strong>Maillard system<\/strong>,<\/li>\n<li>to make ever-increasing public spending sacrosanct,<\/li>\n<li>finance it all with a <strong>punitive taxation<\/strong>, including real estate,<\/li>\n<li>make people believe that the State can eternally redistribute without producing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p id=\"ember1670\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">Problem: <strong>the numbers just don't add up<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1671\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">\u2b95 The canton had to announce <strong>CHF 305 million in savings<\/strong> in the 2026 budget.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1672\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">\u2b95 The <strong>health premiums increase by an average of 4.5 % per year<\/strong>, Despite the measures designed to contain them.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1673\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">\u2b95 Cumulative tax pressure grows <strong>mobile taxpayers from<\/strong>, This weakens the real tax base.<\/p>\n<p project is based on a dangerous logic:<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1678\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">\u2b95 <strong>buying social peace on credit<\/strong>,<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1679\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">\u2b95 preserve political rents,<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1680\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">\u2b95 shift the burden onto an ever more stretched productive minority.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1681\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">Result:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a <strong>pressurised middle class<\/strong>,<\/li>\n<li>the vulnerable self-employed and SMEs,<\/li>\n<li>a sprawling state <strong>unable to reform<\/strong>,<\/li>\n<li>growing insecurity that the left refuses to name.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p id=\"ember1683\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">This is not a \u2019general interest\u00ab policy.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1684\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">This is a <strong>electoral client management<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"ember1685\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__heading-3\">Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Thuillard: the alternative of responsibility<\/h3>\n<p id=\"ember1686\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Thuillard is no sloganeer.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1687\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">It is a <strong>radically different profile<\/strong> :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>farmer,<\/li>\n<li>an experienced local councillor,<\/li>\n<li>rooted in reality,<\/li>\n<li>aware that <strong>without value creators, there is nothing to redistribute<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p id=\"ember1689\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">His message is clear:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>security<\/strong> To re-establish the authority of the State where it is being eroded,<\/li>\n<li><strong>tax fairness<\/strong> Stop chasing taxpayers,<\/li>\n<li><strong>efficiency<\/strong> Doing better with existing public money,<\/li>\n<li><strong>territorial balance<\/strong> Vaud is more than just Lausanne.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p id=\"ember1691\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">Where the left speaks of abstract \u201csocial justice\u201d, Thuillard speaks of <strong>concrete responsibility<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"ember1692\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__heading-3\">A revealing election<\/h3>\n<p id=\"ember1693\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">This election will say one essential thing:<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1694\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">\u2b95 Does Vaud want to become a canton <strong>administered<\/strong>, taxed and under constant pressure?<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1695\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">\u2b95 Or a canton <strong>governed<\/strong>, secure and economically attractive?<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1696\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">Roger Nordmann represents <strong>continuity of an exhausted model<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1697\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Thuillard embodies a <strong>a break with common sense<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"ember1698\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__heading-3\">Conclusion<\/h3>\n<p id=\"ember1699\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">On 8 March 2026, vote Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Thuillard,<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1700\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">it's not about voting \u201cagainst\u201d
